Sherwood National Swimmers
Competing at the very top level is every swimmers dream. Over the years Sherwood CSC has seen many greats… from Rebecca Adlington (Olympic Gold medalist) and Elliot Clogg (Commonwealth Silver Medalist) to Charlotte Henshaw (multiple Paralympic Gold Medalist) and Lily Bosely (Junior International Athlete). The club is steeped in success.
The journey to the top is often rocky but commitment, resilience and dedication to success is at the heart of the clubs values and we have
several SCSC swimmers that have broken onto the national scene recently, hoping to follow in the footsteps of some of these Sherwood greats.
Let’s find out more about our Sherwood National Swimmers:

Martha Manson
Martha - a swimmer with a full range of strokes, is particularly successful in backstroke and butterfly. Her recent performances at the English Championships were excellent. She reached finals and hit some great PB’s . Her backstroke final was excellent (6th) and it showed her true talent as she moved up three places from the heats. Martha is also an extremely talented runner and competes at national level too - proving that you can be a multidiscipline athlete and mix a range of sports up successfully. Martha is a highly successful sportsperson and is well set for next year after her fantastic performances this summer.

Finley Wilkes
A very strong national qualifier yet again this year with his favoured stroke being backstroke , particularly over 200 metres. Finley , also part of Mansfield Nova, has achieved regional success this year with an excellent podium finish and he also performed very well at Nationals too. Finley is one of our super fit SCSC swimmers and this certainly contributes to his successful performances in the pool. Finley is looking to kick on with more national success in 2025/26.

Edward Gregory
Performing at the top level in English Nationals sees Edward starting a full scholarship at the highly prestigious Repton School in September. This is nothing less than he deserves after swimming well in so many disciplines. One of Edward’s standout performances at Nationals this year was his 100m Butterfly Final , a race that he has excelled in throughout the 24/25 season. He swam a very busy schedule over the week, showing that you can compete in many events over a national meet and do well in all. Edward is also a regional (1st) and national (top 20) open water swimmer. We will be watching Edward’s progress at Repton next year.

Harvey Jay Alsopp
Harvey Jay - another dual club swimmer, achieved amazing British medals for Repton in their relay team this year (3 finals). He is particularly good at freestyle and is smashing out some rapid times this year making several national finals (4 finals) . Harvey won a silver medal in his 100 freestyle event, not only getting pbs, but double pbs from heats to finals, really showing that process of swimming faster under ultimate pressure. Harvey Jay is super fast in the pool and it’s so exciting to see how quick he can go next season! A real talent, Harvey has had a great season.

Harry Callaghan Wetton
Harry is another one of our Sherwood swimmers that enjoys swimming in both Open Water and pool events, Harry travelled straight to Summer Nationals fresh off the back of Open Water Regional success (3rd) and National Championships success in Sheffield and Cirencester (7th in UK). Harry is another very good all round swimmer. He absolutely smashed his 400 Individual Medley event at Nationals (12th) with a big overall PB and a PB 100 Butterfly inside the IM. Harry will miss his Nottingham Nova training buddy as Edward moves to Repton and Harry to National Nova Squad but they will look forward to catching up at meets in 2025/26.

Charlotte Callaghan Wetton
A little SCSC pocket rocket, Charlotte is an all round swimmer that enjoys a good 400 Individual Medley, achieving an impressive 11th place English National finish this week to back up her regional medal. Charlottes favourite stroke has always been Butterfly and this was particularly well demonstrated in her recent 200fly performance in Sheffield (12th place) following on from her regional bronze medal, a great effort that saw her leap 14 places from qualifying. Charlottes had a great season even whilst studying for GCSE’s , showing that swimming performance and accademic success can be achieved. Charlottes advice to every young SCSC swimmer is work hard, enjoy the sport and never give up … just keep swimming!
So if you are a young sherwood swimmer chasing a County, Regional or perhaps even a National Qualification time next Spring , our message is YOU CAN DO IT!
All of our National swimmers started just like you, swimming at Sherwood, developing their skills and learning from our great coaches .
Well done to all of our National Swimmers and well done to all SCSC swimmers at every level this year . Let’s keep progressing in 2025/26 and enjoying this wonderful sport of swimming.
