Squad Swimmers

As a competitive member of Sherwood C.S.C. you will be an ambassador for our club.

Listed below is information for members who represent the club at galas.

Please check the club notice board each week to see if you have been chosen to represent your club at a gala.

The team is picked by the selection committee based on personal best times and performance in training. If you are chosen please indicate at the side of your name to indicate your availability.

If for some reason you cannot attend the gala after indicating you are available, please inform your team manager as soon as possible in order that they have enough time to contact a replacement.

Parents please make a note of the team manager's contact number, as you may need to ask for information concerning the gala.

There will be information on the board as to whether you will need to make your own way to a gala. If a coach is being provided we encourage you all to make use of it. This not only takes away the worry of getting lost and being late at the gala but it creates a team spirit and gives the team managers a chance to chat with the swimmers. The coaches are subsidised by the club but a nominal charge will be made.

Please remember to take along your Sherwood kit and wear it at all times when representing your club.
When you arrive at the venue and change into your poolside kit, report to your team managers. Stay with other members of your team and encourage them in their swims. Always show a good team spirit and be polite to other people at the venue.

Take extra clothing to change into between events to keep warm and flexible. Always dry off after a swim this helps you to perform better when you do your next event.

Use the warm up period to practice your turns and get used to the pool, remember this period is to warm up not race, if you do not warm up properly it could lead to pulled muscles or strains. Remember to do your warm up exercises before and between events.

Please keep good order at the start of all races, when the referee blows his whistle there should be silence until the race is underway.
