Child Protection

Child protection issues are taken very seriously at Sherwood Colliery Swimming Club.

ASA Child Protection in Swimming-Procedures and Guidelines (See ASA website)

These procedures and guidelines are produced by the ASA Child Protection Working Party in conjunction with the NSPCC.

The ASA believes that the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility, particularly when it comes to protecting children from abuse. Everyone in swimming - administrators, club officials, coaches, parents, friends, children themselves, everyone - can help.

These procedures are to help to protect children. Everyone involved in swimming needs to see and discuss them. Club secretaries and welfare officers ensure that they are widely distributed.

All poolside helpers and coaches at the club have been checked through the Criminal Records Bureau for their suitability for working with children.

In order to protect the welfare of children at the club, no photography is allowed at training sessions unless there is prior agreement with the club welfare office.
